The 15 years I worked on packaging equipment

15 years ago, in October 2010, I entered the packaging equipment industry, as a foreign trade salesman selling packaging equipment, filling machines and related supporting equipment. But until today, I remembered to write articles and blogs to record my packaging machine sales career, also because of the encouragement and inspiration of my good friend Bruce, I think it is time to record my experience of packaging equipment in the past 15 years.

The story starts in August 2014, a Jordanian customer came to me with 7 kinds of bags and asked me to use one machine to complete the filling and sealing of his 7 kinds of bags. The most difficult one is this 500g small bag, which has a small mouth and a big belly, and there are ears inside the mouth, and it is difficult to open the belly of the bag. If the belly of the bag cannot be opened, it means that the rice cannot be filled in. After my communication with engineer Huang, we know that this 500g bag is not an ordinary bag, and the filling and sealing problems of this bag cannot be solved in an ordinary way. According to the experience of engineers, the 8-side sealed bags used to have their belly opened with compressed air, so we can use the same method to open this 500g bag, so we changed material unloading 1 to a blowing bag opening station, and material unloading 2 to a rice filling station. Undoubtedly, our changes were correct. But the next problem was that the bag opening was irregular, and when unloading 2 was filled with rice, the rice would spill out. The ordinary standard unloading hopper cannot fill bags with ears in the mouth. The engineer suggested welding two picks on both sides of the unloading hopper to push the ears inside the bag to one side, so that it would not affect the unloading. The process of welding these two picks was not smooth sailing. The length and angle of the picks were the results of our many tests. Just as Tang Sanzang had to go through 81 difficulties to obtain Buddhist scriptures, after solving the problem of the pick, he faced the problem of clamping the material. The vibration of the unloading station 2 could not completely shake all the rice into the bag. Then in the next station, we must add another vibration, but the bottom of the rack has been occupied by the motor, and the vibration can only be added on the rack. So far, the work is not over. The beauty of the seal must also be a point of concern for us. The seal is not simply sealed. The flatness and edge width must also be flat and consistent.
